Problem
In Windows 7 AHCI enables native command queuing and hot-plugging through SATA host controllers (Serial-ATA) for your hard drives. If you change the SATA mode of the boot drive, you may have to enable the AHCI driver in the registry first.
Solution

  1. Click on Start menu, type regedit in search box, then click on the regedit link in the top of the window.
  2. To locate the position to set enable AHCI, click to expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, System, CurrentControlSet, Services, and Msahci in the left pane.
  3. Right click on the Start key in the right pane and select Modify...
  4. modify the Start key to set enable AHCI
  5. Change the Value data to 0 then press OK to save it.
  6. After this, you need to restart your computer and go to BIOS to enable AHCI.
    When you log in to Windows 7 next time, you’ll notice the installation of drivers for AHCI.
    Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation.
